Money, with a mind of its own

What would it take to let software spend money on your behalf, and still sleep at night? QUB is an interactive prototype that explores that question through the everyday mechanics of a card app.

The premise

A card for you, and a card for your agent

Most money apps assume a single person tapping a single card. QUB starts from a different assumption: that some spending will increasingly be done by software acting for you, and that it deserves its own card, its own limits and its own record.

The prototype pairs personal cards with agent cards, funded from linked bank accounts or external cards, so the relationship between “my money” and “money I’ve handed off” is always explicit.

Control

Trust is a set of controls you can see

Delegation only works if the person delegating feels in charge. Approvals, spending controls and permissions are treated as first-class parts of the experience rather than settings buried three screens deep.

Much of the design question is one of pacing: when to ask for approval, when to stay quiet, and how to make a limit understandable at a glance.

States

Every transaction state needs a shape

When an agent is involved, a payment can pass through several states before it settles, and each of those moments needs to read clearly to someone who didn’t initiate it themselves.

Designing for those in-between states, not just the happy path, is what lets someone understand where their money is at any moment.
